| INTRODUCTION Under the NCLB legislation (No Child Left Behind), schools are required to establish a Uniform Management and Information Reporting System. The collected data, from anonymous student surveys, shall include: "...the incidence and prevalence, age of onset, perception of social disapproval of drug use and violence by youth in schools and communities". The Risk and Protective Factor Questionnaire for Grades 6 to 11 (developed by Pride Surveys) is designed to identify the levels of risk and protective factors that predict problem behaviors such as alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, poor school achievement, and delinquency. In addition to measuring risk and protective factors, the Risk and Protective Factor Questionnaire for Grades 6 to 11 also measures the actual prevalence of drug use, violence and other antisocial behaviors among surveyed students. The administration of the Risk and Protective Factor Questionnaire for Grades 6 to 11 is designed to help communities assess the risk and protective factors in the lives of young people. This report identifies the risk and protective factors most in need of attention in the community. This information can be used to guide prevention efforts, to help address existing problems, and to promote healthy and positive youth development. During the Fall 2007 administration of the survey, 1039 students participated for Pierre Schools. |
