Parents and guardian of students currently enrolled in the Pierre School District must complete Student Registration for each of their children through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Reviewing your contact information is an easy process that takes just a few minutes to complete! We appreciate your prompt attention to completing Student Registration.

Instructions - Current/Returning Students

Log into Parent Portal. Click MORE > Student Registration to start the application.
Use a tablet, laptop, or desktop computer. Schools will have computers available after August 3rd to complete student registration, if necessary.
Select “Returning Student Registration” to review information for all children. Add any new students to the same application.

District & School Communications

Infinite Campus Messenger with Voice

The Pierre School District will use Infinite Campus to send out mass communications to families. Messages can be sent via phone, text (SMS), and email. We will also include most messages in the Inbox within Parent Portal.

We have found that texting communications to families is the most efficient and effective ways to get messages out. With our switch to Infinite Campus Messenger from SchoolMessenger, we must again obtain prior consent before sending automated text messages to parents. If parents wish to receive text messages from our district offices, and their child's school, they must log in to Parent Portal and elect to receive text messages. Below are instructions on how to complete this task. You can also find instructions with pictures by clicking HERE.

Sign in to Parent Portal
Select the User Menu Icon in the upper Rt. corner of the page and select Settings
Select Contact Preferences
Find the CELL PHONE section and check ALL of the boxes under TEXT (SMS)
Click Save

Immunization Requirements for School Attendance

South Dakota Codified Law 13-28-7.1 (Rev. 2016) requires that any pupil entering school or an early childhood program in this state shall, prior to admission, be required to present to school authorities certification from a licensed physician that the child has received, or is in the process of receiving, adequate immunization against poliomyelitis, diphtheria, pertussis, rubeola (measles), rubella, mumps, tetanus, meningitis and varicella (chickenpox), according to the recommendations of the State Department of Health.

This law applies to ALL children entering a South Dakota school district for the first time. This would include children in early intervention programs, preschool, as well as kindergarten through twelfth grade. Children under 4 need to be age-appropriately immunized.

Birth Certificate Records

All students entering into the Pierre School District are required by South Dakota Law to submit a copy of an official birth certificate at the time of school registration, or as soon thereafter as possible. Families entering into the district can drop off a copy of their child's birth certificate with their Building Registrar.

Big Green Welcome

Freshmen & New Students: Thursday, August 13th | 4:30PM to 6:30PM | Riggs Main Gym
Parents of Freshmen & New Students Orientation: Thursday August 13th | 5:30PM to 6:30PM | Riggs Theater

The Gov-to-Gov mentor program will host the "Big Green Welcome" for all freshmen and new students starting in the Main Gym at Riggs High School. There will be a variety of activities to help familiarize students with Riggs High School. Tours will be given, and students will have an opportunity to interact with upperclassman and ask questions about Riggs. Pizza will be provided!

Riggs High School Principals, Counselors, and the Director of Native American Student Programs will host an orientation for parents of incoming freshmen and new students in the theater. Parents will get an overview and introduction of T.F. Riggs High School, as well as optional tours of the building.

New Student Class Registration

Students that are new to the Pierre School District can come in on these days to register for classes, drop off Birth Certificates and immunization records, and complete any additional paperwork/forms. Parents will want to have completed Online Student Registration prior to coming in. No school pictures will be taken at GMMS on these days. New students will be able to stop in and pick up schedules, and take school pictures, on scheduled grade Check-In Days listed above.

6th Grade WEB Orientation

The GMMS 7/8th Grade WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) Leaders will host this event for all incoming 6th Grade students starting in the Main Gym at Georgia Morse Middle School. There will be a variety of activities to help familiarize students with Georgia Morse Middle School.

6th Grade Parent Meeting

Parents of 6th Grade Students entering Georgia Morse Middle School are welcome to attend our 6th Grade Parent Meeting in our Main Gym. The GMMS Principals and Guidance Counselors will provide parents with an introduction to Georgia Morse Middle School, as well as provide a self-guided tour of the building.

The PSD Food Service Team is passionate about fueling our students for success! We serve breakfast and lunch at every level, every day. The meals we serve meet the rigorous USDA nutrition standards and it is our goal to make meals not only nutritious yet tasty.

Application for Free & Reduced Price School Meals or Free Milk

We strongly encourage families eligible for free and reduced price meal benefits to simply fill out the Free & Reduced Meal Application (English) (Spanish), and submit the document to their school. Families can also pick up a paper copy of the application at their school. Each individual household application is held in strict confidence.

Infinite Campus Food Service

Parents are now able to manage their child's food service account through Infinite Campus Parent Portal. New this year, parents are able to create an eCheck payment method. The ACH fees for eChecks are significantly lower than credit card transaction fees. The district will continue to pay all transaction fees this school year, however, we do strongly encourage families to utilize the eCheck payment option to help keep Food Service costs low and to enable us the ability to continue avoiding passing those transaction fees on to families in the future.

The following instructions will provide you with the basics on how to view food service balances, set up low balance notifications, make payments, and set up recurring payments. One can also find a video tutorial walking you through these steps HERE.

Log into Infinite Campus Parent Portal . From the Home page you will be able to see the current Food Service Balance for each of your children. If you select a child, you will then see some enrollment information, along with their Food Service PIN which they will key in when going through the lunch line. Food Service Balances have been rolled forward from last school year. Balances were exported out of EZSchoolPay at the end of the 24-25 school year and imported into Infinite Campus.
Select My Accounts from the right side of the Home page. From the mobile app you will find the My Accounts icon to the right of the shopping cart icon at the top of the Home page.
Select Payment Methods, and then select New at the bottom of the page. You can give your payment method a name, and choose to set it as the default payment method. Select the payment method type, populate the required fields, and then select the Save button. You can add in multiple payment methods, but again we encourage families to use and set eCheck as their default payment method.
Once you have your payment method(s) created, back out to the Manage Accounts page and select Recurring Payments. Select View to the right of Food Service. From here you can create recurring payments, or automatic payments in the event of a low balance. Be sure to select Save after completing the required fields.
From the portal Home page, select the User Menu (person icon in the upper right corner of the page), and select Settings. Then select Notification Settings. From this screen you can choose to receive low lunch balance notifications. Simply adjust the slider to the desired dollar amount in which you would like to be notified once your child's account is at or below that amount. You will receive an automated notification from Infinite Campus.
From the left Main Menu, select Food Service. Select the Pay button. Type in the dollar amount you would like to add to your child's Food Service Account (you can add funds to multiple accounts at the same time). Select the Add to Cart. Then select My Cart from the right side of the page. Verify the transaction. Verify your payment method. From here you can also add a new payment method. Then select Submit Payment.
From the Home page, again select My Accounts from the right side of the page. Select Payment History. From here you can view all transactions. You may need to adjust the search range for the default is set at Last 7 Days. Select the drop down and choose the desired search range.
