Athletic Parent/Athlete Meeting

Date:  Thursday, July 24th

Time:  6:00PM

Location:  T.F. Riggs High School - Main Gym

The meeting is for GMMS and Riggs athletes, and their parents, who plan to participate in an athletic activity for the 2025-2026 school year.  During this time, coaches for all fall sports will have short meetings with parents and athletes to discuss the start of the fall athletic season.  All athletic paperwork (Physical & Interim) needs to be turned in to the Riggs Athletic Office by this time.  Activity Registration will need to be completed through Infinite Campus Parent Portal by this time.  Instructions on completing the Activity Registration through Infinite Campus Parent Portal are below.  Parents will be able to access the Activity Registration starting July 10th.

Annual Interim Form, Activity Registration, & Physical Exam Form

The Annual Interim Form, and Activity Registration must be completed and submitted annually for all middle school and high school student athletes.  All GMMS and Riggs students planning to participate in school athletics must have a current physical form on file with the Pierre School District.  The Pierre School District does now offer student athletes the option for "Triennial" physical exams.  Parents can log into Infinite Campus Parent Portal to view when their student athlete's current Physical Exam expires.  Instructions on accessing this information are below.  All in-coming 6th Grade student athletes will need to have a Physical Exam completed.  Please print off the Exam Form and schedule an appointment with your family physician to get this completed prior to the Athletic Parent/Athlete Meeting.

2. Select More then Activities.

3. Review Physical End Date, and Concussion End Date.

2. Select School Store then Georgia Morse MS or T.F. Riggs HS.

3. Select Annual Forms.

   • Medical Release

   • Medical Treatment Consent

   • Parent Concussion

   • Participant Consent

   • Training Rules

   • Student Concussion

4. For each form: Click View, select Recipient, provide Signature, submit form, and add to cart.

5. Once all 6 forms are completed: Click My Cart and submit checkout.

*Parent/Guardian(s) can review submitted registration in Activity Registration.

Available Sports for Student Participation & Start Dates

South Dakota Codified Law 13-28-7.1 (Rev. 2016) requires that any pupil entering school or an early childhood program in this state shall, prior to admission, be required to present to school authorities certification from a licensed physician that the child has received, or is in the process of receiving, adequate immunization against poliomyelitis, diphtheria, pertussis, rubeola (measles), rubella, mumps, tetanus, meningitis and varicella (chickenpox), according to the recommendations of the State Department of Health.

This law applies to ALL children entering a South Dakota school district for the first time. This would include children in early intervention programs, preschool, as well as kindergarten through twelfth grade. Children under 4 need to be age-appropriately immunized.

All students entering into the Pierre School District are required by South Dakota Law to submit a copy of an official birth certificate at the time of school registration, or as soon thereafter as possible.  Families entering into the district can drop off a copy of their child's birth certificate with their Building Registrar.

Any New Students, Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors unable to attend their scheduled check-in day may come in on any of the Riggs Check-In Days from 8am to 1pm.  

During this time students will have an opportunity for the following:

• Receive class schedules.

• Take school pictures.

• Pay class fees for elective classes.

• Check out school issued computer (Student Usage Fee:  $25).

• Check out a locker.

• Purchase activity tickets ($25)

• Add money to lunch accounts.

Big Green Welcome

Freshmen & New Students:  Thursday, August 7th | 4:30PM to 6:30PM | Riggs Main Gym
Parents of Freshmen & New Students Orientation:  Friday, August 8th | 5:30PM to 6:30PM | Riggs Theater

The Gov-to-Gov mentor program will host the "Big Green Welcome" for all freshmen and new students starting in the Main Gym at Riggs High School.  There will be a variety of activities to help familiarize students with Riggs High School.  Tours will be given, and students will have an opportunity to interact with upperclassman and ask questions about Riggs.  Pizza will be provided!  

Riggs High School Principals, Counselors, and the Director of Native American Student Programs will host an orientation for parents of incoming freshmen and new students in the theater.  Parents will get an overview and introduction of T.F. Riggs High School, as well as optional tours of the building.

New Student Class Registration

Students that are new to the Pierre School District can come in on these days to register for classes, drop off Birth Certificates and immunization records, and complete any additional paperwork/forms.  Parents will want to have completed Online Student Registration prior to coming in.  

6th Grade WEB Orientation

Thursday, August 7th | 1:00PM to 3:00PM

The GMMS 7/8th Grade WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) Leaders will host this event for all incoming 6th Grade students starting in the Main Gym at Georgia Morse Middle School.  There will be a variety of activities to help familiarize students with Georgia Morse Middle School. 

6th Grade Parent Meeting

Monday, August 4th | 5:30PM

Parents of 6th Grade Students entering Georgia Morse Middle School are welcome to attend our 6th Grade Parent Meeting in our Main Gym.  The GMMS Principals and Guidance Counselors will provide parents with an introduction to Georgia Morse Middle School, as well as provide a self-guided tour of the building.

GMMS Open House

Thursday, August 21st | 5:30PM to 6:30PM

All GMMS families are welcome to come in to our Open House to meet our staff and tour Georgia Morse Middle School!

Infinite Campus Food Service

The Pierre School District is currently working to transition from eTrition and EZpay to Infinite Campus Food Service.  The transition is in progress, and we expect families to be able to access the new Infinite Campus Food Service system by August 1st in order to manage funds in their child's school lunch account.  Parents will be able to do this by simply logging into Infinite Campus Parent Portal.  More information will come out regarding Infinite Campus Food Service soon!
